The ER

Ellie got 2 staples in her little scalp today. What a trooper she was about it too! She is so brave and sweet and friendly. She made friends with all the people she saw in the ER and was very sweet to the doctor and nurse that helped her, even after they held her down to numb, clean and staple her wound. She was very proud of her new "bracelet" too.

Ellie slipped when she was getting into our shower stall with me. Her feet went right out from under her and she smacked the back of her head on the metal lip of our shower door. I felt SO horrible! As usual, I think she has gotten over it already, and I am still traumatized!!

Wow - I can't imagine what that feels like as a mom to see your little one hurt. I think you're right - kids are pretty resilient and bounce back quickly - the parents are usually the ones that are traumatized the most.

I am sorry to hear Ellie got hurt but I would think this is bound to happen sometime with a kid as active as she is. I must have had at least 2 ER visits for stitches by the time I was Ellies age :). Anyway, it is good to know it is only staples and I am sure you guys dealt with it well. In terms of how you must feel as a parent I can only imagine and wonder how my parents raised 5 kids without becoming emotional basket cases. But from what I know of Ellie she won't be holding any emotional scars from a cut on her head. Sending love and light your way.
